Slippery Sunday.

We’re having a wee bit of an ice storm.  One of those times when having the car IN the garage instead of out in front of it is certainly the way to go.  Ever notice people don’t put their vehicles undercover even when they have a chance to do so?   Not going to judge.

Just got a call from our Festivus hostess thanking us for coming and making sure we got home OK.   Yes we had a Festivus gathering last night.  There were no “feats of strength” however.  Just good eats,  and a lot of laughter.

Anyway,  our Festivus hostess also mentioned that their power is out.  They’re in Toronto.   Remember how I’ve gone on about the City of Toronto not trimming their trees effectively or letting the residents do the same?  I’m going to go out on a limb here (oh, there’s a pun) and suggest that not sorting out the tree issue tends to make it more likely that your power will be knocked out.

There,  I said it.

It’s just a theory mind you.

A Saturday night left over.

DSC_0005

Of course,  just now our cable crapped out,  but I don’t have a lot of faith in Cogeco or their ability to keep their lines up in either a wind storm or in the event of a little ice.  I’ll call them up later and get a credit for today.  It’s worth the aggravation,  mostly for the satisfaction of having them adjust our monthly bill.

Sounds petty,  I know.  But dammit, we pay good money for “reliable service”,  so that’s what I expect.

The driving last night wasn’t that bad at all.  It’s the parking lots, sidewalks and side streets that are a wee bit treacherous.  The salt trucks were out in full force.  I was a little concerned when Travelling Companion had to manage the last few feet to get into the house.   Falling on ones keester at that point is never a good thing.

We won’t be going anywhere today.  I’m not even convinced I should venture out to the shed.

DSC_0006

Nor will I be going out to take some artsy pictures of the rime ice.  Looking out the window will have to do.

DSC_0004

I decided to set up the last bed yesterday.  There would be boatloads of extra room,  except for the “stuff” off there to the left.  We won’t go there.

I was reminded of a little issue I had had when I was disassembling that bed back in Vienna.   And yes,  I realise that the movers could very well do those things,  but I just want them to pack it up so it doesn’t get damaged.  I’d sooner do the taking apart,  so I’ll know where all the little bits are.   On one occasion someone from one of the moves said, “Oh, we put all the hardware in a box.”   To which I replied,  “So if that box gets lost,  NOTHING can ever be put back together.”  The look on his face suggested a light bulb had just been switched on.  Dough head.

We didn’t opt for that scheme.  I keep the hardware with the item.  Then I know where it is.

Anyway, I managed to cross thread one of the bed bolts,  which definitely did suck,  but there was nothing I could do about it at the time.  Then of course,  I rediscovered that little issue yesterday. Gah!

So I had to put on my machinist’s cap.

DSC_0001

DSC_0002

OK, maybe that cap is a bit of a tight fit.  I mostly have no clue.  Nor do I have much in the way of machinist’s equipment.

If you don’t know what’s going on there,  don’t worry about it.

DSC_0003

Good as new.

Hey,  I was pretty proud of myself.

And that’s mostly because, like I said,  I really have no clue.  Thankfully the thread was the right size, or I would have had to quietly put away my little set of taps and dies and just crank down on the thing I suppose.

Well,  I guess that’s all there is in my pea brain.

T.C. and I will pass our time watching “Game of Thrones” methinks.

Tally-Ho!

Thanks for stopping by.

Company’s coming.

It’s been a pretty ordinary Wednesday here,  except that both Travelling Companion and I went to breakfast with the Wednesday group.  She thought she’d get in some practise for when she retires.  And yes,  there is talk of retiring,  but that’s not something I’ll mention just yet.  You’ll have to stay tuned.

Anyhoodle,  there was a plan afoot to set up yet another bed,  which of course means Muggins here is the one with that particular little job.  I had been putting off assembling any more beds with the view of getting rid of more of the *stuff* in the upstairs room.  The thing is,  it ain’t my stuff,  and I’m waiting patiently for Daughter Number Two and Hubby to come and get it.   I’ve pretty much assembled it into boxes,  now all it needs is to go.

If you’ve been hanging around here for a few years (poor bastards) you may recall something we refer to as a “Day Bed”,  that I’ve set up and taken apart countless times.  No really.  Countless.  It was purchased in New York State, went to Puerto Rico,  came back to Canada,  went to the Netherlands,  went to Vienna and then came back to Canada again.  Good thing it doesn’t have stickers from all the places where its been or you wouldn’t be able to see the bed.   Oh,  and when we first got to Vienna,  I had to take it apart and move it once,  since it wasn’t quite where it was supposed to be.  I just SO LOVE putting beds together.  You know what kind of font we’re talking about here, right?

So this was my afternoon.  Well,  part of it.  I’m not that slow.

And naturally,  even though I did a thorough cleaning down there not that long ago,  I still had to vacuum up a host of webs and spiders!  Where the hell do they come from?   Little bastards.

*Thinks*.   I’d better go up to the room where I had these parts stored and see if there are any more hanging around.  It’s a sure bet.

DSC_0001 DSC_0002

DSC_0003

DSC_0004

The bottom part is on a frame that comes out and can be raised to make into a second bed or a king.  We wanted to have a half decent set of mattresses, (Sealy…something or other) which meant that each of them are just that much thicker,  and therefore the top one is quite high up in order to fit the second one underneath.  These are things you learn the hard way the first time you put it together.   Don’t ask.

Now of course,  I just have to struggle with all the packing material.   Gah!

DSC_0005

I mean,  I know the movers had to wrap everything and I appreciate the good job they did and all that,  but crikey!

I don’t know how many “bales” of this stuff I’ve set out at the curb.

Well now,  that was exciting wasn’t it??

Aren’t you glad you stopped by?   And well,  thanks for that.

Not much else to see here,  move along.

Paring down that list.

Well fortunately, we don’t have an actual “list”,  which is a good thing.  It would be too overwhelming.

It’s more like,  I get up in the morning and formulate a thought or two as to what I *think* I’d like to do that day.

Something like that.

First of all,  the temptation was there to go back to bed,  since it was a wee bit cool last night in these here parts,  and there was no danged way I was firing up the boiler.   It’s supposed to go up to 23°C tomorrow!

The temperature on the thermostat was reading 66°F this morning,  and I hadn’t yet switched our duvets over to the heavy duty winter set.  Got that sorted out this morning already.

That same winter set was the ones that we actually  doubled up (there are snaps) when we spent our first winter in Europe, in the Netherlands.  It wasn’t so much the location,  as the fact that the house had no heat upstairs other than one vent in the bathroom.  I mean,  that was a good thing,  since then the bathroom would be warm,  but you had to keep the doors closed or it was all wasted.  Coldest winter they had had in ten years.  Just in time for us.  That was special.

Some time after lunch I worked up my courage to tackle the chandelier.

Let me tell you this.  No matter how much you go over it in your head, there’s bound to be something that goes a little sideways.

I had lined up two of the screws such that they would be driven into the ceiling joist,  but of course I managed to turn the stupid thing just enough such that I was trying to do that with the one screw that was a half inch shorter. Gah!   I just had to replace that one shorter screw with a longer one is all.  Got a certain amount of an upper body work out, and you would have never known it was cool in the house this morning,  that’s for sure.  Just a couple drops of sweat.

This is the bonehead’s guide to hanging such a critter by yourself.

So just how the heck to you keep the support on,  and still reach through to put in the screws?

DSC_01212

That was my attempt at a “Eureka” moment.  It’s all I got.

Then after it was secured to the ceiling, I just needed to retrieve the little stainless caps that I had squirreled away in the shop.

DSC_01213

I can’t remember what Travelling Companion suggested for dinner,  but I knew where those things were.

Why is that?  I know I was listening to her, but it’s gone.

Anyway,  now all I have to do is fix those two holes where I took out the pot lights.   No biggie.  (he says)

DSC_01214

MaƱana.

Oh, and I can’t very well light it up yet either,  since I don’t have lamps that are the proper voltage.  As soon as T.C. shows up here with the wheels,  I’ll nip over to Home Despot.

Hey,  that only took me six months!  It’s not like we were using oil lamps in the meantime. No sense in rushing these things, y’know.

I suppose I might even put it on a dimmer?  Meh, we’ll see.

Bean salad!  That was one of the things.  I don’t remember the other.   A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

I’d best get on with it.

Thanks for stopping in.

Missed it by *that* much.

I’ve been meaning to yak about this over the weekend,  but you know how it is.  Either lack of motivation, or somehow a lack of time.  I think I’d go with the first option.

Remember I mentioned something about Bulk Barn last week some time?  Well, we have a local rag here called the Burlington Post,  which is even more of a joke than the free rag that I used to read in Vienna.  It’s in English at least,  and mostly consists of flyers.  And that’s OK, since then I know to go to Food Basics say,  and stock up on shit tickets.  Er sorry,  toilet paper.

Let’s not get rude here.

So here’s the thing.  On Wednesday morning, as I try to be in the habit of doing,  I went to breakfast with the “Breakfast Babes®”,  and then headed off first to Denninger’s and then the Farmer’s Market that sets up on Wednesdays at the Burlington Mall.  All of these locations are precipitously close to the Bulk Barn. HOWEVER,  as I drove past the Bulk Barn after having purchased some actual food,  I resisted the temptation to stop in,  since I knew damned well that I’d be noshing on whatever I had in the bag all the way home.  Gum drops come to mind.

It turns out that was a healthy choice.  I’m pretty sure I would have been just going in right around the time that this lady mistook her accelerator pedal for her brake and did some renovating at the front of the store.

DSC_0213

The unfortunate thing is,  most any time you hear about this kind of thing,  the driver is quite often well on in years,  and such an incident precipitates the beginning of the end of their driving career.  It’s hard to know when to hang up the keys,  but I’d say trying to get to the gum drops from behind the wheel is probably a good time.

That’s as close as I get to being in the news,  and I’m OK with that.

Meanwhile,  we’ve been carrying on with the sprucing up.  Of course,  by “we” I do mean “me”,  but you knew that.

I showed you the kitchen window last week.  Well,  one half of it is apart,  and getting the treatment.

You know the drill.  Take out the “operator”,  sand it, put on a couple coats of finish,  and so on.

DSC_01214

While I was at it,  I just figured I’d remove the stool and trim on the inside,  since it just so happens that I had put that one in, in such way that I only had to unscrew it from its moorings.

Of course,  I have to sand and put finish on the frame parts with the window still in.  That’s always a drag,  but at least with the thing apart,  it’s not quite so frustrating.

DSC_0215

DSC_0216

It too is looking a little sad from not only UV damage, but I could also see where some harsh chemicals had been splashed up on the thing.

And then this morning,  since it would be some sort of venial sin to actually finish a project and have nothing to do,  I started on the downstairs washroom.

Yay me.

This time I remembered to paint the ceiling first.  Then of course,  I start looking at the ceiling in the hallway and living room,  and came to the realisation that,  it too will need a coat of paint.  Come on!

DSC_02113

Of course I forgot to take a “before” picture,  since it never occurred to me to even take any pictures.  The very fancy light fixture that was there had suffered an indignity by having one of its very unique lamp shades get broken back over Christmas.  I won’t mention any names,  but suffice to say that T.C. and I had come home for Christmas for a visit?  Let’s leave it at that.  Wouldn’t want you to get the idea that it was one of the kids.

Actually *thinks*, I don’t think the kids broke anything the whole time that they were house sitting.  Either that or they did a good job of hiding it, and I was too clued out to have noticed.

Anyway,  it’s not going back up,  and I have a plan to mount one of the Swarovski Crystal sconces in its place.  They don’t use octagonal boxes in Europe for their wiring,  so the installation will take some imagination.

This is what I’m talking about,  by the way.

North American style electrical boxes:

octagon_Box

It won’t involve any smoke, but there’s definitely going to be a mirror involved.  I’ll leave it at that,  and I should have a result in a day or so.

Took me a while to find this photo,  but this is the one (or one of the ones,  we have two) that I’m talking about.  We shipped them over with our stuff.  This is from one of the bathrooms in the apartment in Vienna.  The mirror I’m talking about isn’t going to be that big,  I just want to cover up the box that I won’t be able to use.  I’m not going to say much more.

DSC_0003

Go ahead.  Say it.  “oh, dat’s pretty.”

Ya, pretty damned frustrating.

Mostly,  I don’t mind a challenge, but getting stuff to fit that was designed for another part of the world?  Oy.

And that’s pretty much it in terms of the excitement for today, and probably the foreseeable future.  It’s still summer.  It’s still warm out.  It’s all good.

Keep that sun block handy.

Thanks for stopping by.

I could easily be a hermit.

Except for the living in a cave part.  I’d still need the internet.  Mostly for ordering stuff and having it delivered.  And I’m not talking about ordering our pizza on line last night either.  I mostly don’t like talking on the phone,  so being able to order a pizza on line is something I really appreciate.

There was the coffee delivery from a couple weeks back,  but also right around that time I realised that I had some saw blades that were in serious need of some sharpening.

The table saw doesn’t really care if blades are dull or not.  It’s three horsepower, which is boatloads of oomph.  But when muggins here is having a bit of a time of it trying to shove a soft wood like cedar through,  then I know the blade is as dull as a hoe.

So I started phoning around.  The place where I used to take saw blades to be sharpened had not only moved,  but no longer thought it worth while to sharpen carbide.  OK then.   Time to hit the ‘net.

Turns out there’s a place in Galt (about an hour away) that will do the deed.  Not only that,  but they pick up and deliver!  I think the delivery charge was a couple bucks?  And if I’m in no hurry for the blades anyway, then it’s all good.

Pick up on a Wednesday,  drop off the following week.  The only slight wrinkle is that I have to be here,  but I had the driver’s cell number,  and he told me exactly when I could expect him.

Of course,  I wasn’t able to get a decent photo, but that’s him zipping off with my saw blades.

DSC_10001

So much has transpired in the past week,  that I fear I might put everyone to sleep.  You know,  gatherings and ‘stuff’.

One of the things to do over a long weekend,  when there’s no mail delivery,  is to refinish the mail box.  And this is not something I do on a regular basis by any stretch of the imagination, as you can tell by the look of the thing.  It’s never been refinished.

DSC_0001

It was looking a wee bit sad.  It’s been out there for around twenty years,  so it’s no wonder.  I made it to replace the metal thing that was there before.  It was nasty.

DSC_0002

This is the reason for them fancy hand planes.  OK so, a good old Stanley Number four would work just as well,  but I’ve always had a thing for wooden planes.  Plus,  I got to visit the factory back in ‘09.

Since I’m goofing around with finish anyway…

DSC_0003

And back it goes.

DSC_0049

I couldn’t find that last photo at first,  but then remembered that it was in July’s folder,  under “finishing up”.   And there’s a segue there.

Since now we’re done in yet another room.

The windows are in and trimmed out.  The painting is done,  and the furniture is in.

DSC_0053

This involved moving a bookcase back to its original spot.

Ever moved a book case?

DSC_0050

This wasn’t your typical IKEA bookcase either.

DSC_0052

Getting that sucker moved was a challenge.  I just said to Travelling Companion, “I gotta stop making these huge things.”    I think though that it will stay in that spot for a good long time.  I make sure too,  to attach it to the wall.  If it fell over?  Oy.

There were more books and junk in it before it got moved,  but I thinned it out a bit.  What to do with the left over stuff is for another day.

I’m sure I could come up with more to bore you with, but that’s about it.   Over the next day or so I’ll be mucking around with the bathroom window.  It has all the finish on it,  and is basically ready to go in.  Then it will be time for the big one.   That’s going to be just heaps of fun.

Sure hope your festivities were good ones.  Gotta be careful around them fireworks,  I heard some folks got hurt out in California? Nasty business.

Link.   That link won’t be around forever.  Not sure why it was on the “Guardian” website before anywhere else?

Anyhoodle,  thanks for stopping by.

Given the bird.

I realise that sometimes I might need a little outside motivation to get at certain chores,  like looking at the grass grow, that kind of thing, but I was getting tired of washing the bird poop off the car.  Simple as that.

See,  we have a “guest” here, and I don’t mean the two legged, or even four legged kind.  No, it’s a bird.

Every year (I think) we have an issue with some bird or other wanting to make a nest at the top of a pillar outside our front door.  Usually it’s a Morning Dove, and they’re not the brightest bunch in the bird world,  and the reward for allowing them to stay is usually a couple broken eggs on the stairs for me to clean up.

This time around,  we have a Mamma Robin.

DSC_0001

DSC_0002

From the bathroom:

DSC_0003

Not easy to see her, since there’s a screen in the way there.

I suppose I should have knocked down the stupid nest right from the start,  but now…well, that would just be wrong.  Besides, it’s really a well made nest.  Not the couple strands of crap those Morning Doves would put up there.  Plus,  she doesn’t make a sound.  Morning Doves?  Oh Gawd.

Of course,  since there was “stuff” in the garage,  we’ve been leaving the car outside,  and there’s been an abundance of splatter,  shall we say?  I’m fairly sure it’s her.  Probably takes exception to us hanging around her place and all.

*mumble*

See,  all of this cr*p was in the garage.  There’s an assortment of mattresses there.

DSC_2002

Not that hard to move,  but I was just not really looking forward to it?

I still have to deal with the bubble wrap, but that’ll be for later.

The thing is,  once upon a time,  when I was working in a school,  I’d simply put all the cardboard in the back of the pick-up truck,  take it to work and heave it in the cardboard bin.  Easy peasy.

I miss that.  Now I have to cut it all up into smaller chunks,  so it can more readily fit into the recycling truck that comes every Thursday.

DSC_2001

Oy.

Now that I think on it,  I don’t think I actually had to work as hard, when I went to work?   I mean, there were such a thing as a coffee breaks,  and taking an hour for lunch.

Don’t get all bent out of shape,  I didn’t get paid for those times,  but at least I was in the routine of actually taking that time.

These days it just seems that I go until I collapse.   Mind you,  I have lost six pounds since moving home from Wienerland,  so that’s a plus.

I have no real “objective” when it comes to my weight,  but I do wish I could get rid of a wee bit more around my middle.  Somehow I think I’m doomed in that respect, but let’s not go there.

I don’t swill as much beer as I did when we lived in Vienna either,  so that probably makes a bit of a difference.  Beer’s too damned expensive in this country.  There,  I said it.

Oh,  and here’s another part of the non-existent “weight loss program”.   I get to move stuff.  Oh joy.

Since the kids have moved out,  I’ve been wanting to get back to having some semblance of an office,  or something.  Some place besides the dining room table,  let’s just say?

I’ll let the pictures talk.

Naturally it didn’t occur to me to start taking pictures until I had already skipped a step.  Oh well.

DSC_0005

DSC_0006

Cr*p.  Not gonna fit through that door…

DSC_0007

So,  off comes the door.  That frame is another story…

DSC_0009

DSC_0010

This is when gravity is your friend.  And no,  I didn’t just set it at the top of the stairs and give it the heave.

DSC_0011

Never hurts to have a couple carpet samples hanging around either.  Always wondered what I’d do with those.

Don’t want to forget that little shelf that slides out over the bank of three drawers.  Goes in between the top of the desk and the frame.

DSC_0014

And there we go.  Bob’s yer Uncle.  Or something.

DSC_0015

The bloody desktop (top of the desk,  not computer desktop) is just about as heavy as the frame, so IF you have a couple really strong fellers willing to lift the thing, then fine.  But leaving the top attached makes it even that much more difficult to get it through certain doorways.

I can see some of the scrapes from when just such a thing was attempted.  It went out on loan when we were first away, to a nephew and his wife,  and I had secretly hoped they would just keep it, but it came back.  It may yet find a new home,  but for now it stays.

It’s a desk.  It’s fine.  Whatever.

That’s not where it’s going to end up,  but Daughter Number Two still hasn’t come to collect her IMac,  which is sitting on the opposite side of the room,  just outside of the frame there.  I tried using that thing,  and it confused the hell outta me.  I guess I’m just “old school”.

One of these days I suppose,  we might break down and throw a PC in that room,  but the laptop is still hanging in.   Doing those back-ups!  Never know when it might just up and die.

Not sure what’s on the agenda for today,  but there’s probably something that needs moving.  Or scraping.  Or patching.

Yay me.

Keep those sticks on the ice.

Thanks for stopping by.

May the fourth be with you.

You knew someone had to say it.  Hello.  Here I am.

Other than really wanting to use that as a blog title,  I haven’t much else.

It’s another beautiful day here in the neighbourhood (TV reference this time,  not the big screen)  so I’ll no doubt spend some of the time outdoors.  I might have to break out the sun block.

Even though there’s no longer a “doggie in the window”,  we did have a visitor the other day.  Daughter Number Two came by to pick up a few errant things,  and brought Kermit along.

After the initial excitement of seeing me,  (hey, he’s excited to see just about anyone, I’m not special) he spent the rest of the visit camped out in three different spots.

DSC_0001

OK, lying in the sun I understand,  but then he moved to another couple spots, just to see if he still liked it there?

DSC_0002

Next thing we knew,  he was lying in the kitchen.  Weird little bugger.  Too hot?  Too cold?  What?

Oh,  here’s something you don’t see every day.  (we’re not talking about the dizzy dog here anymore)

It just so happened that we got the notice from “Service Ontario” that Travelling Companion’s licence plate sticker comes up in July.  I know,  seems we just got the damned car,  so why would the sticker already be running out?  Has to do with your birthday, and I suppose the wonderful dealership only got a sticker for as short a period as they could get away with.  Just love dealerships.

Anyway,  there was something on there about ordering ‘on the line’,  and I thought I’d give it a try.  You know,  just to avoid that whole standing in line like a sheep program?

It seems like I had no sooner printed out the receipt (April 30th),  turned around twice,  and the thing was in yesterday’s mail!

DSC_0003

Some names and numbers have been covered to you know,  just because.

It took so long for my driver’s license to arrive,  that I figured for sure that I’d be calling someone in July,  wondering just where the heck our sticker might be.

I guess stickers are a whole different set of criteria.  Or something.  I’m not complaining!  Just maybe a bit bewildered.

I mean, I realise I’ve been impressed with say Amazon, or Media Markt,  but “Service Ontario”?   A bureaucratic entity?

So wait,  when was the 30th?  Wasn’t that Tuesday?  And I got our new sticker Friday?  Holy Crap on a cracker!  Where am I living?  I swear it used to seem like standing in line took longer.  What is this crazy new world?

*thinks* You mean to tell me I might never have to stand in line there again?  I think I just pooped a little.

And so,  life goes on.  You know, setting up spare beds.  All that sort of cr*p.

This will make a lovely “spare room” at some point in time.

DSC_0004

Curiously though,  I didn’t take a photo of the finished product.  I think I had just about had it by that point, and didn’t feel like sharing.   This was interspersed with the Friday routine of changing bedding and cleaning bathrooms.  We now have three.  In Vienna there were only two.

Oh,  and there was some washing of curtains in there as well.  Just a fun filled day.

Speaking of which,  sitting here 'ain’t doin’ it’.  Off I go.

Keep those sticks on the ice.  Enjoy your weekend.

Thanks for stopping by.

Thursday, April 25, 2013

Just this, and then it might be nap time.

My garage is starting to look a little better.  There was not only the stuff in there that had come over from Vienna that was being forwarded on to the new digs of Daughter Number Two and Hubby,  but I managed to unload a couple items that I’ve been shoving back and forth any time I’ve come home for a visit.  You know,  that stuff that is just under foot, but doesn’t happen to belong to me?  So therefore I can’t really give it the heave,  since I didn’t really “live” here.

Well, now I’m home to roost,  so to speak.

and it’s already on the truck…’cause it’s “got to go”.

DSC_0019

A lot of the stuff was still in boxes,  or got boxed here,  ready for the move.  I’ve seen way too many times where folks want you to help them move,  and they really and truly haven’t a clue.  Like, I don’t want to carry out your toothbrush.  Or one sock.  Use boxes!

Just about everything got boxed, and carefully labelled as to the contents.   I’m kind of anal that way.

Which is probably why I had to start cutting down the cardboard in fairly short order.

I realise there seems to be a bit of a pile of bubble wrap there,  along with a mess of cardboard,  but that pile actually represents a smaller version of what there was before I started cutting it down to the “pick-up acceptable” sized pieces.  It has to fit into a blue box,  or at least into another box that the driver can manage.   This is one aspect that I miss about no longer working as a Caretaker.  I had access to all sorts of means of getting rid of stuff.  We had a “cardboard bin”,  and as long as the lid could be closed,  there was no worries about the size of the pieces.  We also had nice big dumpsters, for all the rest of the stuff that doesn’t seem to have a proper place.  I have a bunch of busted up bricks that were once flower bed edging. What the hell am I going to do with them?

Speaking of proper receptacles.  We were a little mystified when the very clever driver decided that the bag of shredded paper couldn’t go with the rest of the recycling.

There are these “recycling bags” available for just such an eventuality,  and rather than put the shredded paper in loose,  it makes sense (to me at least) to put it in the blue box in one of these “made to purpose” bags.

Here’s what the bags look like.  Pardon the French.

The other side is English, but that’s where the hole is.

They’re “see through”.  See?  So you know what’s in there.  Happens to be shredded paper.

But no.  “Unacceptable”.

What?

So I guess next week I’ll just put it in my blue box loose,  and let’s just hope there’s not too much wind that day.

I’m thinking of buying a leaf blower anyway.  I could always just blow it down the street.  No worse than the rest of the shit that’s blowing around on “recycle day”.

I think I need to get me one of them jobs.  Apparently there’s not much “thinking” involved.

We’re keeping the truck for the night,  which had more to do with the availability of able bodies helpers than the amount of stuff.  We’ll make one more trip tomorrow and then that should just about wrap things up.

I think I’ll go scarf down a couple acetaminophen,  and maybe stretch out for a few minutes.

Keep it between the ditches.

Thanks for stopping in.
