May has been a bit busy.

This is the post I went to upload this morning,  and subsequently got the "blogger not found"  thingy.

Copying and pasting however,  is a complete pain in the ass..
Just saying.

Trying to tell myself on a daily basis that I have no deadlines.  It’s mostly working.
We’re currently in “speaks” when it comes to ordering the countertop for the cabinets.  I have the last one in the shop getting it’s final bits of stain.
 Then finish.
Then the door.

OK never mind. There’s a ways to go on that one.

I did take a few minutes to check out a possible second set of wheels last week.   The truck itself was in pretty good shape.  Annoyingly, although it was a “one owner” truck and not a work truck,  the previous owner hadn’t bothered to rust proof it.  No rust on it just the same except for the frame,  even though it was an 07.   That seems old,  but it’s a Toyota.   I might still follow up on it.  If it’s sold,  then so be it.  T.C.  seemed to think it was too old for what was being asked,  but the value doesn’t seem to drop like a stone like other brands.
Not mentioning any names.

But all of that is on hold for a few days,  as “the boys” and I are heading off to Grand Bend of a “Guy’s Weekend”.
We’ll try to not overdo it.  There are hockey finals to watch.  Beer to consume.  Good eats.  Possibly golf.
That last one is a bit iffy.  We’ve HAD a few days of warm weather,  but now it has cooled considerably.  I didn’t manage to get out to a driving range.  It could get ugly.
We’ll see.

Monday night will be day two of “training” on the new boat.  I’m away for the Sunday gathering.  I’m sure I can catch up.  We’ll be racing with the “big boats” now.  First start sequence.  There will be no more looking to see who started on what tack and how that’s working for them.  Should be interesting.
It’s still sitting on the hard.  Goes in the water this afternoon.

That’s it for this missive.  Things to pack.  Coolers to sort.  That kind of thing.
See you on the flip side.

Thanks for stopping by.

Blogger not found.

The idiots at Google have been mucking around.

I had a post all ready to publish,  and I don't have the time or the skill set to sit here and try and figure out what they've mucked up.

Enjoy your weekend.

I'm out.

How was your day off?

There are times when I say I’ll do a thing,  and then later think twice.  I try to stick to it.

I had told my nephew that I’d be by his place this morning to continue on with the work on their house.  I spent *thinks* last Friday making a couple bulkheads for the kitchen,  and then this morning I wasn’t sure what we’d do.

Turns out he called just as I had already left to say not to bother coming over,  but I showed up anyway.

He hadn’t had a chance to pick up more supplies previously, and of course most everything today was closed.  It’s Victoria Day in these here parts, which is also considered “May Two-Four”  weekend,  even though some times it doesn’t fall on the twenty fourth.

Those who have cottages typically go off and open the cottage this weekend.

Anyway,  we decided to hang some drywall on the living room ceiling instead.

Let me just say this about that:  It ain’t for the uninitiated,  nor the faint of heart.

Nor the weak of upper body strength.  That would be mostly me,  but I managed.

I feel a bit like I was rode hard and put up wet,  but I’ll get over it.

Took us, I don’t know, a few hours?  I find it’s best not to be too aware of the time in these situations.  After that we called it a day.  I just thought about all that money I saved on a gym membership.

Oh and, yesterday was a night out at Flamboro Downs,  but some of you might already know that.

I think I can put up a link to a bunch of pics.  I only posted one short video to the Book of Face.

Here’s the link.

I could mumble on a bit more, but let’s not get into too much tedium,  shall we?

Thanks for stopping by.

The big eat.

Just a couple words before I lay my widdle head down.

We had the big gathering tonight,  and it was a swell time.

The food was awesome, if I must say so myself,  but I wasn’t the only one, and it was very nice to be able to sit and chat with all our friends without being drowned out by say,  several dozen patrons of some pub or other.

Not ALL of the food was prepared in our very own kitchen,  as we picked up the meat from a place in Oakville called Boffo’s,  where they stayed open just long enough for me to get there right at closing time to pick up enough meat to feed a small army.

Here’s me hugging the chef/owner Noel.  Hopefully his wife didn’t mind.

I mean,  I had just hugged Daughter Number Two who works there,  and I didn’t want him to feel left out.  I didn’t hug the rest of the staff, nor his wife.  Didn’t think that would be appropriate.

Anyhoodle,  there were 14 of us,  and we managed to all fit in the dining room without having to resort to any sort of “kid’s table”.

Also kind of hard to get everyone in the same shot.  No matter.

So that’s it.  Everyone had a fabulous time,  and there were no punch ups.  (are you kidding?)

Now it’s off to bed.

Bake to Hork.

Inside joke.  I’ll explain if you want. Sound it out.

Whatever.

What I mean is,  I spent most of the day hackin’ and hewin’.

Like, back to work?

Some of the cedar that I’m using turns out to be “old growth”, or at least that’s the way it behaves.  Very aromatic.

Very. Aromatic.

Almost overwhelming.  It’s stuff that I’ve had hanging around for the better part of a couple decades,  and originally was torn out of our “head office” when I was in the working world.  It’s being put to good use.

The clothesline went up without too much effort.   Of course,  that means balancing precariously up against the pole. Never overly thrilled.

I suppose it could be a two-man job,  but I always seem to be able to do these things by myself.  Just takes a bit of planning,  and maybe a couple clamps to hold the line from getting away.

I was going to post the pic of the finished installation,  but I took a look at that photo and realised just how messy our “back alley” is.  Gah!.

So we’ll just give that one a pass.

Not too messy for these guys.

I suspect the coyotes will take care of them in due time.  I mean,  they’re cute and all, but when they completely wipe out an entire garden, one’s viewpoint does tend to change, shall we say?

Had a little visit yesterday with Daughter Number One for Mother’s Day.

Then today Daughter Number Two came by with Hubby.

I took photos, but there weren’t any that were overly flattering.  I ain’t no fool.

Supposed to be sailing tomorrow night and,  if it’s anything like right about now,  we’ll be bundled up,  that’s for sure. The fog has just rolled in,  and the temperature seems to be dropping like a stone.

I guess that’s all I have for tonight.  It’s this or nothing.

Nothing might be slightly better.

Thanks for stopping by.

Sticks.  Ice.  You know.

No hope of catching up.

Once upon a time,  I had this idea that I’d have my base cabinets somewhat done by next weekend,  but now I’m missing about six days,  or was it five?  Don’t know.  It’s mostly a blur.

I threw some pictures up on Facebook,  if you’re remotely interested.  I’d say 90% of them were taken from the car window.  This is where a camera that will quickly focus comes in really handy.  With the exception of at first mistaking the shutter release with the “on/off” button I’m really liking the G16.

It’s not as easy to one hand it like an SLR,  and it’s just that much bigger than a small compact camera.  But I’m getting there.

Click on the link if you have like,  twenty minutes.

From the Book of Face.

I’ve returned to what now seems to be summer.  Not sure where the heck spring went to.

Of course, the temperature is up and down like a toilet seat,  but it’s going to be warm and somewhat muggy here today.

Still haven’t broken a sweat this morning, but I did changing out the winter tires on the Merc yesterday.  And,  I discovered that,  although the winter skins are 45 series both front and back (meaning I can rotate front to back in the fall if I choose) the summer tires are not.  They’re two different profiles front to back.  45s on the front,  and 40s in the back.  So I won’t be able to rotate them front to back,  because I already tried and trust me,  that didn’t work.

Not going there.

Wanted to wash them before putting them away,  so that’s why they’re sitting out there on the (mostly) grass.

Anyhoodle,  I’d best get back out there.  Bought a new clothes line yesterday since the one I put up some twenty years ago wasn’t really instilling me with a lot of confidence.  If you’ve ever had a clothes line come apart and come crashing down,  you’ll know what I mean.

Such fun.

A brief blog-cation.

For those of you who are friends on the Book of Face,  you already know that I'm briefly away from The Ponderosa,  for a little trip across the continent.  I'll update when back home.
Working with a tiny keyboard,  limited wifi etc.  Too frustrating.
Check back soon.

Thanks for stopping by.
