Or maybe I should say, “shopping?”

Never really my favourite thing,  but the decision was made to brave the crowds.  Turns out it wasn’t all that bad.

Earlier on though,  the forces were out closing off the main drag again for the second “Advent Saturday” on Mariahilferstraße.

The whole notion of turning the entire street into a pedestrian zone is still a little lost on me,  since even by 1:00 p.m. when we were on our way back,  there still wasn’t that much of a crowd that the whole street was needed.   But hey, what do I know?  Maybe next Saturday it’ll be busier.

We decided to head over to the train station to do some shopping.

No,  I don’t smoke any of that “whacky tabacky” either.  They’ve been renovating the west train station since some time in 2008 and there was a grand opening last week.  There’s now a multi-level shopping mall with some 90 shops.   It was actually a reasonably pleasant experience,  and that’s as far as I’m willing to go when it comes to describing shopping.   Can’t say what we bought,  since there are Christmas presents involved,  and we won’t go there.

On the train station end of things,  it’s kinda large.

Not really a well thought out photo,  but there were people sitting right there in a café of some sort,  and I didn’t really want to shoot over their heads.

The building itself if quite impressive,  although I’m not so sure I’d want to be right up there in that corner during an earthquake.  There hasn’t been a quake here since 1590,  but I still think I’d want something under me besides a lot of sky.

Here’s a pic I took back in October from another angle.

Not feeling very chatty today,  so you get off easy.

Enjoy your weekend.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. I'm not sure I'd want to be in that corner even if there wasn't an earthquake.

  2. glad to see your getting in the spirit with the 'shopping'...definitely wouldn't want to be in that corner for any reason...

not very chatty today? Are you feeling ok? :) have a super weekend

  3. I enjoy reading about your corner of the world (hope your corner has more support than the corner in that photo). Chatty or not, keep posting - lots of us look for your posts every day! :)

  4. Nice to see you getting into the swing of the season. We didn't hear about any purchases. Did you go home empty handed?
    Quiet an interesting bldg.

Well, I've been getting too many spam comments showing up. Just a drag, so we'll go another route and hope that helps. So, we won't be hearing anything more from Mr. Nony Moose.
I guess I'll just have to do without that Gucci purse.
